Siddikur takes joint lead in Panasonic Open India

Dhaka – Bangladesh’s trailblazing golfer Siddikur Rahman grabbed the one-shot joint lead after signing for a six-under-par 66 at the halfway stage of the US$400,000 Panasonic Open India on Friday.Siddikur aggregated 11-under 133 total ,a matching score with Thai talent Suradit Yongcharoenchai who maintained overnight one-shot lead as he had a bogey-free five-under-par 67 in the second round.
Siddikur, who opened his campaign with a flawless five-under-67 by five exciting birdies and was just one shot behind to grab the lead, carded eight birdies against two bogies at Delhi Golf Club’s par-72 course measuring 6,935 yards on the day.
Local hope Ajeetesh Sandhu and Jazz Janewattananond of Thailand matched Suradit’s efforts of the day with matching 67 to stay one and two shots back in grabbing third and fourth places respectively.
Three other Bangladesh golfers — Zamal Hossain Mollah, Shakhawat Hossain Sohel and Dulal Hossain — missed their cut.
Zamal aggregated a total of four-over-par 184 [72-76] to finish on joint 85th spot with four other golfers.
Sohel aggregated a total of six-over-par 150 [72-78] while Dulal a 10-over-par 154 [76-78] to finish on joint 98th and joint 116th places respectively.UNB
