Singer Rumey secures conditional bail in wife’s case

A court of Dhaka on Wednesday granted conditional bail to singer Arefin Rumey in a case filed for repression allegations over dowry filed by his first wife Ananya.
Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-5 of Dhaka granted the remand on condition of negotiation between Rumey and Ananya. Earlier in the morning, the hearing on the bail petition was held in the court.Advocate Jahidul Alam Jahid and Shahadat Hossain stood for the accused while Lamia Islam Ananya opposed the bail plea. Earlier, on Thursday, another special court of Dhaka sent Arefin Rumey to jail canceling his bail in a case filed for repression allegations by his wife.

On February 13, Judge Md Arifur Rahman of the Fourth Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-4 sent Rumey to jail on charges of repression against women. The judge issued the order of bail cancellation following the plea of accused Rumy’s first wife Ananya. On October 13, last year Magistrate Anwar Sadat of the CMM Court of Dhaka granted bail for Arefin Rumey and his brother Yasin Roni. – Court Correspondent
