Sirajganj flood situation slightly improves

The flood situation in Sirajganj has marked a slight improvement with a little fall in the
water level of the river Jamuna.
But still around one and a half lakh people, left stranded by the flooding, are leading a
sub-human life in 150 char (shoal) villages of five upazilas, including Kazipur, Sadar,

No relief materials have reached them so far, lamented a few flood victims.
At least 5,000 affected families have moved to the flood protection embankment and
other raised grounds for shelter.
Around 20 educational institutions in the district have remained closed as flood water
entered their classrooms.
District Agriculture Extension Department sources said aman paddy, maize, green chilli
and several other crops on about 2,000 hectares of land were damaged due to flood.
Besides, flood water also damaged 27,000 hectares of seedbeds.

to monitor the flood situation.
