Six Khaleda aides at Gulshan office sick for lack of food, sleep

At least six persons including BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and vice chairman Selima Rahman staying at the Gulshan party office with BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia have fallen sick due to various problems including lack of sleep and inadequate food, says one of Khaleda’s media team aides.
Shyrul Kabir Khan on Friday told this correspondent that they have become sick due irregularities in sleep, shower, food and rest as they have remained virtual prisoners without food supply from outside.Apart from Nazrul Islam Khan around 50 people including security and office staff of the former premier are staying at the Gulshan office since January 3.
Khan joined Khaleda Zia on Tuesday when a delegation of European Parliament visited Khaleda Zia at her office.
Others who have fallen sick are: BNP chairperson’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan Sohel, special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas, chief coordinator of chairperson security force (CSF) Lt Col (Retd) Abdul Majid and Maj (Retd) Anwar.
Shyrul informed Dr Mojibur Rahman of from Apollo Hospital visited them and checked their health on Thursday night and provided them treatment and medicine.
Police have stopped food supply to the leaders and officials of BNP who are staying at the Gulshan office since February 11. Occasionally police also detained BNP supporters and sympathisers like singer Baby Naznin and two former women MPs from in front of the office. They all except one Chhatra Dal leader Sathi have been released.
Internet, telephone, and cable TV network connections to Khaleda’s office are still remained cut off, according to sources. – Staff Reporter
