Six Killed in Mymensingh road mishap

Six people were killed in a road accident in Bakey More area on the Mymensingh-Tangail Highway under Muktagacha upazila of the district this morning.
The deceased were identified as Alal Uddin, 40, Samir Ali, 35, of Rampur village, Akbar Ali, 40, Safiqul Islam, 35, of Mondal Sen village, Jalal Uddin, 40, of Vottabari village and Salim, 25, son of late Jahiruddin of Langrarbazaar area under the Muktagacha upazila.
Police said the accident occurred when a Jamalpur-bound sand-laden truck collided head-on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw in the area, leaving two passengers of the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and injuring four others.Another wounded died on the way to Mymensingh Medical College and Hospital (MMCH).
Later, critically injured Jalal, Safiqul and Salim succumbed to their injuries at MMCH, said Kamal Hossain, officer-in-charge of Muktagachha Thana.
Muktagacha police recovered the bodies from the spot and sent them to MMCH morgue, he added. Police seized the truck but its driver managed to escape from the scene. – BSS
