Six shops were gutted by a fierce fire on the Hospital Road in the town early Monday.
Humayun Ahmed, station officer of Maizdi Fire Station, said the fire originated from an electric short circuit at a refrigerator repair shop and spread in a moment burning down five other adjacent shops around 12:30am on Monday.On information, one firefighting unit from Maizdi Fire Station rushed
to the spot and doused the flame after an hour of frantic efforts around 1:00am.The extent of loss caused by the fire could not be estimated immediately.UNB , Noakhali
