Social business initiative launched

A tripartite memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed among Yunus Centre, Grameen Creative Lab of Germany and Sports and Peace foundation, an international organisation based in Monaco to help sports world to address social problems around the globe through social business.

The agreement was signed by Nobel Laureate Professor Muhammad Yunus, Hans Reitz co-Founder of Grameen Creative Lab, based in Germany and Joel Bouzou, President of the World Olympians Association and President of Peace and Sports Foundation.

HRH Prince Albert II of Monaco was also present on the occasion took place on December 7 in Monaco.

The deal will create programmes around the world for dialogue and communication with the sports world to encourage and facilitate to get them involved in social businesses to address social problems.

It will also lead to create a global social business fund to support social business investments from sports organisations and sports personalities around the globe.

At the gala of 10th Peace and Sports International Forum, Prince Albert II spoke praised the new initiative and recognised the work of Professor Yunus in creating Grameen Bank and social business movement in the entire world.

Professor Yunus, who was the chief guest at the event, spoke about how sports and social business can contribute a world of three zeroes – a world of zero poverty, zero unemployment and zero net carbon emissions.

International football superstar Didier Drogba, among several other sports super stars spoke at the event highlighting the role of sports persons and athletes contributing to solve the social problems.

There was a special ceremony to reward the best sport event, the best social organisation, the best CSR activities and the best athlete.

The event was attended by global sports and athletic super stars from worldwide.
