Speed up implementation of beat policing: DMP Commissioner

Dhaka, Aug 08 – Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Md Shafiqul Islam on Saturday directed officers of different ranks to speed up the implementation of the beat policing process to control crime easily.“Noting that crime can be easily controlled through beat policing, speed up the process,” the DMP Commissioner said.
The DMP Commissioner gave the directive at a special view exchange meeting with the officers of different ranks of the DMP regarding the implementation of Beat Policing and Integrity Strategy Action Plan at Bangladesh Police Auditorium of Rajarbagh Police Lines.
Emphasizing on ensuring the welfare of the people, he said, “Just as you (Police officers) have delivered the police service to the people in Coronavirus situation, hold on to this activity in all other cases.”
He expressed hope that community policing and beat policing activities would continue.
As a strategy of integrity, the DMP commissioner said, the problems must be listened to in a friendly manner and actions have to be taken accordingly.
He has also given instruction for more supervision of senior officers at police checkpoints in the capital.
During the special meeting on implementation of beat policing comprising 302 beats of 50 police stations of the DMP, responsibilities and duties of beat officers and responsibilities and duties of Officer-in-Charge (OCs), Zonal AC and DC Crime Division were discussed. – UNB
