Stay alert against ‘govt’s subversive acts’: BNP

Voicing apprehension that the government might carry out ‘subversive’ acts over the 20-party’s ongoing non-stop blockade programme, BNP on Saturday asked its leaders and activists to remain alert about it.
“This regime is carrying out acts of sabotage at different parts of the country. They may carry out more subversive acts over the blockade programme. All must remain aware of it, and put up a strong resistance against such acts,” said BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
He came up with the remarks at a press briefing at a Gulshan house attended by a group of journalists.Rizvi alleged that the government has taken a step to reshuffle the administration in a bid to implement the government’s evil plan of killing more people and shedding blood to suppress the opposition’s peaceful blockade programme.
“I call upon the leaders and activists of BNP and the 20-party to continue the blockade programme peacefully and create an all-out resistance against this illegal government,” he said.
The BNP spokesman reiterated his party’s demand for holding a fresh and fair election under a non-party administration to overcome the current crisis. “The current government will have to quit right now and arrange fair polls.”
About BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s confinement, Rizvi said she has been ‘confined’ to her Gulshan office since last Saturday. “The government is staging a drama every day by putting lock her office and unlocking it.”
He reaffirmed that President of Indian Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah phoned BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia on Wednesday night and enquired about her health condition as she fell sick after police used pepper spray to her vehicle on Monday.
The BNP leader alleged that the government is creating confusion over the telephone conversation between the BNP chief and BJP chief.  – UNB
