Stepbrother accused in murder of two minor brothers

Comilla – A case has been filed against a stepbrother of the two minor boys, whose bodies were found at Dhulipara village in Sadar Dakshin upazila on Saturday afternoon, suspecting him of their murder.
The deceased’s mother, Rekha, filed the case with Sadar South Police Station against her stepson, Shafiul Alam Chhotan, 22, a private university student, at night, said Inspector Mohammad Ayub of the police station.
Police could not arrest Chhotan as he went into hiding soon after the recovery of the bodies of the two minors, added the OC.

Police recovered the bodies of Joy, 7, and his younger brother Moni, 5, sons of Abul Kalam of the area.
Abul Kalam along with his wife Rekha Akhter had found their house door closed from outside when they returned around 3:30pm.
They entered the house by breaking open the door only to see Joy and Moni, their two sons, lying dead on the ground.
On information, police recovered the bodies.
Police and locals said Kalam had another son, Chhotan, and daughter Tanjila from his first wife Rokeya Begum.
Kalam said Chhotan might have killed the two children as he (Chhoton) could not bear them from the very begging of his second marriage with Rekha Akter, mother of Joy and Moni.
Additional Police Super (South) Abdullah Al Mamun said the children might have been strangulated to death as there were black marks on the necks of the victims.
Meanwhile, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohmmad Auyal declared to distribute Tk20,000 as compensation from the local administration to the deceased’s family. – UNB
