Stop confrontation: Women entrepreneurs

Leading women entrepreneurs on Monday urged the political parties to stop confrontational politics for the sake of economy and to save them from the huge financial losses.They made the request at a views-exchange meeting on the recent political scenario and economic condition held at the FBCCI auditorium.
The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) arranged the discussion with its first vice-president Monwara Hakim Ali in the chair.
Speaking at the meeting, Monwara Hakim Ali said the women entrepreneurs have been playing a significant role in strengthening the country’s economy. “Women can play more effective role if a sound democratic system prevails in the country.”
The FBCCI first vice-president said the political instability and violent movement are seriously affecting the trade and commerce in the country. “As a result, women entrepreneurs have become the worst sufferers economically.”
She called upon the women entrepreneurs to come forward and stand against the destructive political programme like hartal.
The FBCCI leader also requested the political parties to think of an alternative to hartal.
She informed that the FBCCI will host a conference of businesspeople in the city on April 26 urging the women entrepreneurs to attend it.
Director of Bangladesh Chamber of Industry Preety Chakrabarty, FBCCI directors M Bazlur Rahman, M Momtaj Uddin and M Kohinur Islam, among others, spoke on the occasion. UNB
