Natore, April 23 – Rain and hailstorm battered different parts of Singra upazila on Wednesday evening, damaging boro crops and dwelling houses.Local people said storm swept over Chatardighi and Ramananda Khajura union of the upaizla. It lasted for about an hour.
The tin roofs of various houses and boro crops on some 1,500 hectares were damaged by the hailstorm, said Upazila Agriculture Officer Sazzad Hossain. – UNB
The period from the middle of April to the end of May is known for violent localised storms called Nor’westers (Kal Baishakhi). This is the time of transition from pre-monsoon to the South-West Monsoon. – News Desk
