A day after five tremors hit Sylhet on Saturday, another mild quake was felt early Sunday again, creating panic among the people of the district.
After four successive earthquakes hit Sylhet on Saturday morning another earthquake jolted the district in the afternoon. Fortunately, there were no reports of any casualty or damage to property.
The government has formed four teams to assess the damages to the Sundarbans caused by Cyclone Yaas, which formed in the Bay of Bengal and hit the coastal areas of the country Wednesday.
Low-lying areas in Koyra, Dakope and Paikgachcha upazilas in Khulna district have been inundated by the tidal surge triggered by Cyclone Yaas which made a landfall in eastern India on Wednesday.
Eighteen warships, maritime patrol aircraft and helicopters of Bangladesh Navy have been kept ready to combat the effects of Cyclone Yaas.
