Student bodies’ 7-day ultimatum to remove RU VC and pro-VCs

Rajshahi, Jan 14 – Some student organizations of Rajshahi University on Thursday gave a 7-day ultimatum to remove corrupt persons from the positions of power including RU vice-chancellor and pro-vice-chancellors. They demanded this through a press conference under the banner of ‘Santrash o Durniti Birodhi Oikko’ held behind of university central library.
They warned if their demand is not fulfilled they would wage a continuous program under the banner ‘Rajshahi Bisshobidyalay Bachao’.
They made some more demands that included, all sort of appointments have to be postponed until removal of the corrupt persons, the VC and the pro-VCs have to be elected in a democratic way, the campus has to be made democratic by forming senate and RUCSU.
Bangladesh Chatra Federation president of RU unit Mohabbat Hossain Milon said in a written statement, A university can’t make progress with a corrupt administration. The corrupt persons lost their moral right. We demand their removal as early as possible.
They said that the RU Registrar has resigned from his post a few days ago. But we cannot understand how the VC and the pro-VCs can still hold their positions after their corruption have been proved.
Chatra Odhikar Parishad president of RU unit Murshedul Alam, organizing secretary Aman Ullah and Bangladesh Chatra Federation member of RU Azizul Manik, among others, were present at the press conference. – RU Correspondent
