Rajshahi, Dec 1 – Demanding the merger of Applied Physics and Electronic Engineering (APEE) and Electronic and Electric Engineering (EEE) into one department, the student of the APEE department of Rajshahi University (RU) have gheraoed the university administrative building on Sunday. They observed their sit-in-program for two hours that begins at 12.00 of the day.
Earlier, they took out a protest procession parading main streets of the campus and staged sit-in-strike.
Student Adviser of the University Professor Dr Laila Arjuman Banu and Professor Dr Lutfor Rahman assured them of meeting their demand.
On the other side, the students of the EEE department submitted their memorandum not to merge the departments into the one on November 20 and boycotted classes and exams for the indefinite time. They also continued their movement for the day by staging sit-in-strike between the 1st and 4th science building.
University Proctor Professor Dr Lutfor Rahman said, I requested them to go back to the class. This will involve a long procedure, university administration will take necessary steps soon, he added.
