Suspect killed in Munshiganj ‘gunfight’

A crime suspected was killed in a ‘gunfight’ with law enforcers at Rudrapara village in Srinagar upazila on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Shahin. Further details about the victim could not be known yet.
Tipped off that a group of armed criminals was staying at the Rudrapara village to carry out criminal activities, a team of Srinagar Police Station conducted a drive there at noon to arrest them, said additional superintendent of police ABM Masud Hossain.Sensing the presence of the law enforcers, the criminals opened fire on them, leaving constable Al Amin injured with bullets. The criminals also snatched a rifle from Al Amin, he said.
Later, additional forces were called in who surrounded the area. However, the hoodlums opened fire on them again, forcing the law enforcers to retaliate with gunfire.
Shahin was caught in the line of fire and died on the spot, said the ASP. Police said they recovered the looted rifle and a pistol from Shahin’s possession.
Al Amin was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital. Additional police have been deployed in the area. – UNB
