Suspected mugger killed in reported shootout

A suspected mugger killed in a shootout with police in the city’s North Begunbari on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Yusuf, 38, son of Abdul Ali.
Officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Silpanchal Police station Mijanur Rahman said a patrol team challenged a four suspected muggers, boarded on a white colour private car, near Siddique Master’s Gali of North Begunbari at about 2:20 am on early Tuesday.
Sensing presence of the law enforcers, they fired gunshots targeting them. Police also reiterated returning gun fire, the OC said.
At one stage, the gangsters fled from the scene leaving one of their accomplices on the spot. Police rescued him and rushed him to pangu hospital of Agargaon as the suspected mugger, later identified as Yusuf, sustained bullet injuries at his leg.
One ‘Chapati’, two bullets and two mobile phones were recovered from the spot. Yosuf succumbed to his injuries at the hospital at about 3:50 pm, the OC said. A case was filed with the police station in connection with the incident. – News Desk
