Plainclothes police on Saturday evening arrested a man for his suspected involvement in
a robbery incident at Dharan Bazar in Chhatak upazila.
The arrestee was identified as Anar Uddin, 29, son of late Mokhles Ali of Moishapur
village of the upazila.
Acting on secret information, a team of plainclothes police arrested Anar from the area
around 8.00pm on Saturday.
Later, he was sent to jail on Sunday.
Police said Anar, who was out on bail in another robbery case, was arrested as a suspect
in a robbery and murder case in Madhabpur village of the upazila. -UNB, Sunamganj
Arms trader held with 3 air guns in Jessore
Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in a drive arrested an arms trader along
with three air guns from Mohishkura area of Benapole town on Sunday.
The arrestee was identified as Imanur, son of Hazrat Ali of Putkhali village.
Lieutenant Colonel Matiur Rahman, director of BGB Battalion-26, said on secret
information that a group of smugglers along with contraband Indian arms were going to
Jessore town through Putkhali border from India, a team of BGB arrested Imanur after
conducting a drive in the area in the morning.
Later, the BGB team recovered three air guns named Dina-35 after opening body of his
(Imanur’s) motorcycle.
A case was filed with Benapole Police Station under the Arms Act. -UNB, Benapole
