Hundreds of people of Hindu community, particularly students, celebrated Swaraswati Puja before a 40 feet tall Swaraswati, Hindu Goddess of wisdom, installed at Ambari village under Kotalipara upazila of the district on Sunday.
Several hundred devotees from different areas gathered before the 40 feet tall Hindu Goddess, first time in Bangladesh, erected at Ambari to celebrate the puja.The devotees, especially the students from schools and colleges attired colourful dresses, offered special prayers and observed fasting as per ritual of the religious festival to seek knowledge from the Goddess Swaraswati.A cultural function was also held on the occasion.In the district, many images of Goddess Swaraswati were also erected at different puja mandaps, educational institutions and makeshift places for worships. -BSS, Gopalganj
