A local leader of Swechchhasebak League was shot dead by unknown miscreants at Madhya Karpara village in Ramganj upazila on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Nur Hossain, organising secretary of the Karpara union unit of the ruling Awami League’s volunteer front and son of Kalu Mia of the village.Police, quoting locals, said a gang of unidentified miscreants opened fire at Nur Hossain in front of his house around 11:00pm on Wednesday, leaving him critically injured.Nur Hossain was rushed to Ramganj upazila health complex where doctors declared him dead.Lokman Hossain, officer-in-charge of Ramganj Police Station, confirming the incident said political enmity might have been the reason behind the murder. -UNB, Laxmipur
