Dhaka, Mar 11: Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury, an Awami League MP from Sylhet-3 and vice president of AL Sylhet district unit, died of Covid-19 at a hospital in Dhaka on Thursday. He was 66.
MP Mahmud Us Samad Chowdhury breathed his last at United Hospital in the city, said Whip of Jatiya Sangsad Md Atiur Rahman Atik.
“Mahmud Us Samad MP died of Covid-19,” Atik told UNB.
The three-time MP was receiving treatment at the hospital since Sunday and he was tested for Covid-19 on Monday and the report came positive.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of Mahmud Us Samad.
In a condolence message, the Prime Minister prayed for the salvation of the departed soul and expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved family members, reports UNB.
