Dhaka, 15 Jan – Tabith Awal is BNP’s mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation. Tabith has said that his selection as party candidate was the victory of youths of the country.“The BNP chairperson has nominated me as the mayoral candidate for the sheaf of paddy (BNP’s electoral symbol). I think, it is the victory of youths of the country,” he said in his immidiate reaction after the nomination board selected him as the BNP mayoral candidate for Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) by-poll.
Tabith, son of Abdul Awal Mintoo, said a major political party like BNP kept confidence on youths and it would encourage him a lot.
He expressed his gratitude to former premier Khaleda Zia for selecting him saying that she kept her word that the future Bangladesh would be for the youths.
Earlier, candiadate nomination board led by party chairperson Khaleda Zia interviwed all the five aspirants and their representative at her Gulshan office.
Meanwhile, briefing reporters, BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said that the party picked Tabith in a bid to promoting youth leadership.
Besides, he said, Tabith who contested the last DNCC mayoral post, proved his acceptibility in the previous election.
In the last election ruling Awami League candidate Annisul Huq was elected mayor receiving 4, 60,117 votes while Tabith got 3, 25, 080 votes. – Staff Reporter
