Tangail – At least 42 shops were gutted in a fire that broke out at a market in Ghatail upazila of the district early Sunday.
Police said the fire originated from a short circuit at a shop at Sagardighi Bazar and soon spread burning down 41 more adjoining shops around 2:45am.
On information, firefighters from fire service stations of Madhupur and Fulbaria in Mymensingh rushed in and doused the flame after an hour of frantic efforts.
Affected shop owners claimed the loss from the fire would go up Tk2 crore. – UNB
