Tarafder Ruhul Amin not to compete in BFF election

Dhaka – In a surprise decision, renowned sports organizer Tarafder M Ruhul Amin has backed down from competing for the hot seat of the President of Bangladesh Football Federation ( BFF) just two months before the election.

Tarafder, who announced his intention to run for the post two years back, made the surprise U-turn seemingly handing a third term to BFF President and former star footballer Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin, who has declared he would be running again.

Tarafder emerged as the strongest candidate for BFF President as he started working for the election over the last two years, forming the District & Divisional Football Organizers Parishad and Football Clubs Association.

He is also the top official of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football clubs—Saif Sporting Club and Chattogram Abahani Limited.

Tarafder reportedly informed the decision to his rival Kazi Mohammad Salahuddin over phone Sunday evening.

However, Tarafder is yet to disclose his stand/version to the media till date, and will likely do so at a press conference on Monday.UNB
