Dhaka –The 6th-time champions Dhaka Abahani Limited made a good start in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating Bangladesh Police FC by 2-0 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium here on Sunday.
Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba and Kyrgyzstan booter Edgar Bernhardt scored one goal each for the sky-blue popular Dhanmondi outfit Abahani.
Abahani took lead in 43rd minute from a combined attack. Abahani’s Nigerian forward Sunday Chizoba opened the account by a cool brain, off a readymade pass from Haitian forward Belfort (1-0).
Abahani maintained their domination in the 2nd half too and doubled the margin in the 83rd minute of the match.
Edger sounded the Abahani margin by a powerful shot from vintage position, off a combined attack by Sunday and Belfort (2-0).
It was opening match for Police FC in the professional football league. Police played in the semi-final of the recently concluded Federation Cup Football.
After the match, five teams –Dhaka Abahani, holders Bashundhara Kings, Dhaka Mohammedan, Saif Sporting and Chattogram Abahani – topped the league table securing full three points after playing one match each.UNB
