They see conspiracy for nightmare of downfall: BNP

Strongly criticising Awami League leaders for accusing BNP chairperson of conspiring at her Gulshan office with government officials, BNP spokesman Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Friday said they now find conspiracy in everything as it suffers from the nightmare of its fall.
“The ruling party sees conspiracy in everything as it suffers from a nightmare as they’re now afraid of falling anytime. They know it very well they’re standing on quicksand losing ground beneath their feet. Their throne will fall like the house of cards in the face of turbulent wave of people,” he said.Fakhrul, the BNP acting secretary general, was addressing a discussion at the Jatiya Press Club e arranged by the party marking ‘Freeing of Democracy Day’, commemorating the December 6 fall of military ruler HM Ershad in the face of a mass upheaval in 1990.
Earlier in the Day, Food Minister Quamrul Islam termed BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia’s meeting with some ‘government officials’ on Thursday night as a ‘midnight blueprint’ and said necessary actions will be taken against those involved in the ‘conspiracy’ against the government.
BNP said some retired government officials met BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia at her office on Thursday night as per her regular contact with people from all walks of life.
However, the government based of the reports of intelligence agencies alleged that some 20 retired and serving bureaucrats held a meeting with Khaleda Zia at her Gulshan office on Thursday night to conspire against it.
Refuting the government’s allegation, Fakhrul said Awami League shows people fear of bugbear whenever BNP’s movement gathers pace. “How long will you terrorise people with your imaginary conspiracy.”
The BNP leader alleged that the ruling party tries to mislead people by saying the opposition’s movement is to save the war criminals. “We want to clearly say our movement is not for protecting anyone. We’re on a movement to save the country and its sovereignty and restore democracy and people’s vetoing rights that you (AL) you have snatched.”
Branding Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a neo autocrat, he said it is pity that the nation is celebrating the fall of an autocrat while it is under the grip of much more dangerous autocratic regime.
The BNP spokesman alleged that over 2,000 democracy-loving people have been killed in the last five years under the rule of Hasina while 50-100 people had been killed in the nine years of struggle against Ershad’s autocratic regime. “Hasina is more dangerous and bigger autocratic than Ershad.”
He warned the Prime Minister she must pay a heavy price for killing thousands of people and making many of them disappeared. “The screams of those left their children, fathers, husbands won’t go in vain.”
Fakhrul also called upon his party men to chant slogans everywhere like down with autocrat Hasina, let democracy be freed and down with fascist Awami League let democracy be freed.
He also urged BNP men to go to door to door to encourage people to take to the street to save the country. “Our movement will be successful if we can take to the streets together with people.”
It’s not the time to think who will get what, he said pointing at his party leaders and activist, adding that now all have to wage a united movement to ensure the fall of this regime.
“Let’s take a vow on this day that we won’t spare this fascist and neo autocratic regime. We’ll force it to hold an inclusive election to establish a people of government,” Fakhrul said – UNB
