CHAPAINAWABGANJ – Suspended Chairman of Shibganj Upazila and Nayeb-e-Ameer of Chapainawabganj district unit of Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana Keramat Ali and two others were arrested from a brick field at Kendbona village under Nachole upazila of the district today.
The other two persons arrested are Jamaat activist Anwar Hossain, 39, of Selimabad under Shibganj upazila and owner of the brick field and Alkash Ali, 52, of Babupur of the same upazila.
Several cocktails were recovered from their possession.Officer in Charge (OC) of Nachole Thana Fasiruddin said 42 cases are pending against Keramat Ali with different police stations and he was absconding.Police received information that Keramat Ali is in a meeting at Satata Brick field area.On information police from Nachole Thana raided the area at about 12.45 pm and arrested them with cocktail bombs, he added.Upazila Parishad source said Keramat Ali was suspended from the post of chairmanship on April 30, 2015.(BSS)
