Three suspected thieves have been beaten to death by a mob in Gazipur early on Saturday.
This happened in a village of Bormi Union under Sreepur Upazila around 3am, Sreepur Police Station OC Mohsin-ul Quadir said.
“All three were members of a gang into stealing CNG-run auto-rickshaw,” Quadir said.Of those killed, Nurul Islam, 28, was a resident of the village. He was wanted in several cases of auto-rickshaw thefts.
Police could not confirm the identity of the other two.
Metal cutting tools and two knives were recovered from the spot by police.
The OC said locals chased the three thieves and lynched them to death.
