Tk 1.5 lakh looted from shop injuring 3 in Jessore

Robbers looted Tk1.5 lakh from a shop injuring three people blasting crude bombs in Rajarhat of Jessore district on Friday night.
The injured were identified as Shawkat Ali, 50, a wholesale trader, his son Ashikur Rahman, 20, of Ramnagar village in sadar upazila, and a pedestrian, Abdul Jalil, 60.The victim, Ashikur Rahman, said a gang of masked robbers, numbering 7/8, swooped on Shawkat’s shop and blasted 6/7 crude bombs around 10:30 pm, leaving two people injured.Later they looted Tk 1.5 lakh breaking open the cash box of the shop.Before fleeing, the bandits blasted ¾ more crude bombs, leaving Abdul Jalil injured.Of the injured, Ashikur and his father Shawkat were rushed to Jessore 250-bed Hospital.Ashikur said that a group of extortionists had long been demanding toll from his father.They might have looted the money, he added.Enamul Haque, officer-in-charge of Kotwali Police Station, said he heard about the incident. -UNB, Benapole, (Jessore)
