Robbers looted gold ornaments, cash and other valuables worth Tk10 lakh from a house at Patgati village in Tungipara upazila early Wednesday.
Police said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 7-8, stormed the house of Rafiqul Alam Nixson at the village at about 3:30am breaking grill and door.
Later, the hoodlums took the family members hostage at gunpoint and looted eight tolas of gold ornaments, Tk 1.5 lakh in cash, five mobile phone sets and other valuables from the house and decamped with the booty.Habibullah Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Tungipara Police Station, confirmed the incident.
