Tokyo Varsity students on visit to Bangladesh

A team of 10 students of the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies (TUFS) is now visiting Bangladesh.  The participants arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday night under the “Visit Bangladesh Programme” of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They will stay in Bangladesh till February 26 and will visit different parts of the country.
The Bangladesh Foreign Ministry organises the programme to familiarize foreigners with Bangla language, heritage and culture of the country.
During their stay, the participants, who are learning Bangla at the TUFS, will interact with the officials and representatives of various offices and organizations including Liberation War Museum, JICA and Embassy of Japan.They have already visited International Mother Language Institute, Japan Study Center, DU and Ekushey Book Fair.  The team members are expected to visit the Sunderbans-a UNESCO recognized world heritage site.  The participants will call on with the State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md.  Shahriar Alam, MP.
Senior officers of the Ministry will also highlight on the prospects and potentials of Bangladesh in a separate session where video presentations will be made on the country’s history, culture and its potentials.
As a part of public diplomacy initiative, the Ministry has been conducting the “Visit Bangladesh” Programme since 2010 and has so far organised five such visits, according to foreign ministry sources. – Staff Reporter
