Tourists stranded at St. Martin’s Island: Signal 3 at maritime ports

Dhaka, Mar 10 – Thousands of tourists remained stranded at St. Martin’s Island a tourist attraction south of Teknaf, the southernmost area of Bangladesh on Friday Afternoon as the went rough due to inclement weather.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal No 3 as deep convection continues over the North Bay of Bengal.Squally weather may affect the maritime ports, North Bay and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh under the influence of trough of low lying over the North Bay and, Met Office said.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain near the coast and proceed with caution till further notice.
Meanwhile, rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary W/NW’ly Kalbaishakhi squalls with a speed of 60-80 kph or more at places is likely to occur over the regions of Rajshahi, Tangail, Faridpur, Madaripur, Dhaka, Jessore, Kushtia, Khulna, Barisal, Patuakhali, Noakhali and Comilla in the next 12 hours commencing at 6:30pm on Friday.
