Trader shot dead in city

Dhaka – A trader was gunned down in the city’s Pallabi area on Friday night. Police arrested one of the suspected killers soon after the shooting incident.The victim was identified as Kamruzzaman alias Sumon, 24, a battery trader and son of Abu Taiyub of Sonaimuri in Haziganj upazila of Chandpur district. He had been residing at an apartment in Mirpur-10.
Locals said the gangsters, numbering 3-4, swooped on Sumon at Parish Road near his residence under Pallabi Police Station at about 8pm.
They fired several shots at Sumon and fled the scene leaving him in a pool of blood.
Sumon was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors pronounced him dead.
Contacted, officer-in-charge of the police station Ziauzzaman said local extortionists, including Shohagh and Shovo, demanded toll from Sumon several months back and he had filed a case against the criminals.
The OC also said they arrested Shohagh, 24, soon after the incident. – UNB
