A train derailed at Paghachang in sadar upazila early Friday as subversives damaged rail
tracks.
Railway sources said an advance train with one compartment for checking rail lines
veered off the tracks in the area at about 3:30 am as miscreants unscrewed the fishplates
of the tracks at some time earlier in the night.
However, train movement on the up lines of Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes
remained halted due to the accident.
A salvage train rushed to the spot and started working to remove the derailed
compartment.
