Train derails in Lalmonirhat

Two compartments of a passenger has gone off the rails at Teesta railway station, snapping Lalmonirhat’s train links with the rest of Bangladesh.The local train derailed near the Out Signal of the Teesta Railway Station around 8am on Tuesday, said the station’s Master Mahbub Rahman.
The train was on its way to Kurigram’s Ramna from Parbatipur.
A relief train had started rescue around 10am, said Rahman.
He hoped the rail link would be restored soon.
Three passenger and a mail trains have been stranded due to the derailment.
“It has nothing to do with the ongoing Opposition’s strike,” said Lalmonirhat Railway Divisional Traffic Superintendent (DTS) Mostafizur Rahman.
Earlier in the morning, two trains had rammed into each other at Dinajpur’s Fulbari injuring at least 50 passengers.
