Training on disaster management begins in Rajshahi

A three-day students training workshop for disaster management and fire fighting began at Fire Service and Civil Defense Station here yesterday.
Barendra Unnayan Prochesta (BUP), a rights-based development organisation, organised the workshop where 22-student from different schools and colleges in the city are taking part.In the training, the students will get scopes of acquiring practical knowledge on both natural and man-made disasters and its mitigation tactics.Samarendra Nath Biswas, Deputy Director of the station, opened the workshop as chief guest, saying a process of preparing 62,000 volunteers across the country to face different disasters like earth quack is underway.Upon successful completion of the programme, the country will attain capability of addressing and managing the disasters.Among others, Assistant Director Shawkat Hossain, Senior Station Officer Shariful Islam and BUP Project Coordinator Rashed Ripon also spoke. -BSS, Rajshahi
