Trapped barking deer rescued at CU campus

Chittagong Aug 30 – A barking deer (Maya Horeen) which was trapped in the net of a window of the science faculty building in Chittagong University (CU) campus was rescued in critical condition on Thursday. The deer was trapped in the window of room no. 108 of Science Faculty, said CU Chemistry Department officer Sumon Chowdhury Saleh Ahmed, who first spotted the endangered animal around 9:30 am.
Later, Sumon with the help of the university Proctorial body rescued the Maya Horeen.
The deer could not move as it had wounds in its heap and back feet, said Proctor Mohammad Ali Asgar Chowdhury.
later, the deer was sent to Chottagram Veterinary Hospital for treatment as it had severe wounds, he added.
Assistant Professor Aftab Hossain of Zoology Department said the spices of barking deer are endangered in the country. “
“So, it will be wise to send it back to the forest after treatment,” he added. – UNB
