Two people were killed and over 50 others injured as a storm lashed over 100 villages of six unions in Patnitala and Dhamirhat upazilas on Saturday afternoon.
The two deceased were identified as Mamunur Rashid, 50, a school teacher of Chakshipur village, and Himu, 9, son of Hamidur Rahman of NagorgolavillageofPatnitalaupazila.
The six affected unions are Ghoshnagar, Nazipur, Patichara and Patnitala in Patnitala upazila and Aranagar and Yusubpur of Dhamirhat upazila.
Over 100 thatched houses and crops on vast tract of land were also damaged and many trees uprooted during the severe storm that swept through the villages at about 5:30pm and it lasted several minutes, said witnesses. UNB
