Two killed in Sirajganj ‘gunfight’ with Rab

Dhaka – Two alleged terrorists were killed in a ‘gunfight’ with members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) at Jamtoil in Kamarkanda upazila of Sirajganj early Thursday, UNB news agency reported.
The deceased were identified as Sanowar Hosain and Lutfar.Additional deputy inspector general of police Sahabuddin, commanding officer of Rab-12, said on a tip-off that a gang of terrorists, including Sanowar Hosain and Lutfar, was staying in the area, a team of the Rab force launched a drive there at about 3:00 am.
Police said, sensing the presence of the Rab team, the duo and their cohorts opened fire at them, prompting the Rab members to retaliate.
Sanowar Hosain and Lutfar were caught in the line of fire and died on the spot while their other associates managed to flee the scene.
Later, the Rab members recovered the bodies, one foreign-made pistol, one pipe gun, two deadly weapons and eight bullets from the spot.
Sanowar was accused in eight cases, including for murder, robbery and arms, the Rab commander added.
