Dhaka – Defendeing champions and national star-studded Bangladesh Navy made a flying start in the SIBL Victory Day Hockey Tournament crushing Bangladesh Police by 13-0 goals in the opening match at Maulana Bhashani National Stadium here on Tuesday.President of Bangladesh Hockey Federation and Chief of Bangladesh Air Force Air Chief Marshall Masihuzzaman Serniabat inaugurated the meet as the chief guest.
Managing Director and CEO of the meet’s sponsor SIBL Kazi Osman Ali was also present as a special guest.
In the day’s opener, national coloured Ashraful Islam and Moinul Islam struck three goals each, Fazle Rabbi and Deen Islam Emon scored two goals each while Krishna Kumar, Rasel Mahmud Jimi and Mamunul Rahman Chayan scored one each for the sailors team, which dominated the first half by 9-0 goals.
In the day’s other match, Bangladesh Air Force upset Bangladesh Army beating them by 3-2 goals in the tie breaker as the match was locked in 4-4 goals duing the stiupated period at the same venue.
In the schedule time, Sifat struck two, Prosenjit and Siraji contributed one each for the Air Force team while Mohammad Rokonuzzaman scored two, Milon Hossain and Pushkar Khisha Memo scored one each for the Army team.UNB
