Walk on school children making human bridges shock all

Dhaka – Two incidents of local level political leaders walking on children’s shoulders or backs posed as ‘human bridges’ have shocked the people across Bangladesh.In Chandpur, an outlying district, Nur Hossain Patwari the chairman of the Upazila council and the president of the local Bangladesh Chhatra league, walked over the bodies of the students of Nilkamal Osmania High School at of Haimchar during an annual sports programme of the school.
The Upazila chairman reportedly made some cash donation in response.
In another bizarre incident, the land donor of a school in Melandaha upazila of Jamalpur district walked through a ‘human bridge’ made by the school students during its annual function on January 29, UNB news agency reported.
Didar Hossain Prince, the land donor of Mahmudpur Bahumukhi High School, walked through the human bridge.
The still picture of the incident went viral on the social media site Facebook, provoking huge outcry.
In the picture, it was seen that a good number of Scout members of the school were sitting on their knees in a row holding a long bamboo and Didar was stepping over their shoulders. Two men were also seen holding the hands of Didar to help him keep balance.
Meanwhile, two three-member probe bodies — one led by additional district magistrate M Maniruzzaman and the other by Melandaha upazila education officer Mozammel Hoque — have been formed to look into the incident, said headmaster of the school Asalat Zaman.
Didar came to the school to take part in the annual sports and cultural programme, the headmaster added.
On January 30, upazila chairman Nur Hossain Patwari of Haimchar in Chandpur district, walked over the bodies of the students of Nilkamal Osmania High School during an annual sports programme of the school.
In a picture and video footage that went viral on the social media, it was seen that students made a symbolic ‘Padma Bridge’ joining their hands where Nur Hossain walked over the students’ bodies. The Upazila chairman has been reportedly sued in the local court for the inhuman walk on bodies of students.
