2 murders: in Kushtia AL clash – in Pabna hacking

Dhaka – Feb 3 – A man qwas killed and at least 10 others were injured in an Awami League factional flash in Kushtia lwhile scchool boy was hacked to death in Sathia Upazia of Pabna on Friday morning, according to reports received in Dhaka.A man was killed and 10 others were injured in a clash between two groups of Awami League (AL) at Mathpara in Sadar upazila of Kushtia district over establishing supremacy in the area on Friday morning.
The deceased was identified as Idris Ali, 45, son of late Gafur of the same village.
There had been a long standing dispute between Jiarkhi union AL general secretary Abdul Kader and ward AL president Afzal Hossain over establishing dominance in the area, said Rabiul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sadar Model Police Station.
The supporters of the two groups had an altercation around 8am that led to a fierce clash.
The two rival groups, equipped with arms, attacked each other, leaving Idris dead on the spot and 10 people injured.
Receiving information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
The injured were admitted to Kushtia General Hospital. Additional police force have been deployed to avert further trouble.
Schoolboy killed in Pabna
A schoolboy was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at Sholabaria village in Santhia upazila of Pabna district early Friday, UNB rep[orted.
The victim was identified as Ovi, 13, a class VII student of AtaikulaHigh School and son of Imran Hossain Babu, a resident of the village.
Abdur Razzak, officer-in-charge of Ataikula Police Station, said local people spotted the body of Ovi lying near his house and informed police.
Police recovered the body and sent it to Pabna GeneralHospital morgue for autopsy. A case was filed.
