Warm-up match: Bangladesh women’s earn 90–run win over North West Women’s

Dhaka – An eight-wicket haul by Fahima Khatun guided Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team to make brilliant start in the South Africa tour beating hosts North West Women’s team by 90 runs in the first warm-up match at the North West University ground in Potchefstroom on Wednesday, ahead of their five-match ODI and three-match T20 series.
Leg break bowler Fahima Khatun bowled devastatingly to collapse hosts innings cheaply grabbing eight wickets for just five runs in her 10 overs spell, with six maidens.
Bangladesh will play their first match of the ODI series against hosts South Africa on May 4 at Senwes Park in Potchefstroom.
Replying to Bangladesh modest total 270 for 2 in 50 overs on Wednesday, North West Women’s were all out for 180 runs in 45.4 overs to concede a humiliating defeat.
Among the hosts women, number four E Fourie scored the team highest unbeaten 64 runs off 66 balls featuring 12 boundaries, opener T Brits contributed 62 runs off 81 balls, featuring eleven boundaries while one down M Nape made 49-ball 20 runs, including one boundary, were the main scorers for the home side reaching the double figures.
Apart from Fahima Khatun’s eight wickets, Jahanara Alam and spinner Khadija Tul Kubra took one wicket each conceding 19 and 43 runs respectively.
Earlier, favoured by coin, Bangladesh Women’s opened the innings first and scored moderate total of 270 runs for 2, despite losing two openers — Murshida Khatun (0) and Sanjida Islam (4) –cheaply for 4 runs in 2.4 overs.
But captain Rumana Ahmed pairing with one down Fargana Haque carried the team to a respectable position contributing an unbeaten 266 runs in the 3rd wicket stand.
Nusmber four Rumana Ahmed hammered unconquered 136 runs off 144 balls featuring 20 boundaries while one down Fargana Haque contributed unbeaten 102 runs off 142 deliveries hitting 10 boundaries.A Bosch and E Yekile grabbed one wicket each conceding 31 and 35 runs respectively.UNB
