Warrant of arrest issued against Khaleda in orphanage trust case

A special court in Dhaka on Wednesday issued a warrant of arrest against Bnp chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in the orphanage trust corruption case.
Wednesday was the date fixed for hearing witnesses in the case. Khaleda Zia’s counsels prayed for time as she could not attend the court on security grounds. The court of Judge Abu Mohammed Joardar, set up in the Madrasah-e-Alia ground, however turned down the time prayer and issued the warrant of arrest against Khaleda and two other persons.The Zia Orphanage trust corruption case against Khaleda Zia was filed by the immediate past military-backed caretaker government. Similar cases filed under the same government against the leaders of parties now in power have all been withdrawal as those have been considered ‘political cases’. Cases filed against Bnp leaders including Khaleda Zia have not only been retained by reinforced with new cases,
Two other against whom warrant of arrest have been issued are Econo Kamal and Sharfuddin Ahmed. – News Desk
