Holding the slogan ‘Pakh-Pakhali Desher Rotno, Ashun Kori Sobay Jotno’, Jahangirnagar Univeristy (JU) is going to organise the bird fair-2016 on February 5.
Convener of the Fair Dr Md Kamrul Hasan said the fair is being organised with assistance from the Wildlife Rescue Centre, the Zoology Department of JU as has been done every year since 2011 with a view to raising mass awareness about preserving birds.The day-long programme including bird identification competition, decoration of stalls, speech competition, bird painting competition for children, lectures on bird, watching migratory birds with binoculars at different spots, discussion and cultural session on the birds.
With the presence of guest birds, the JU campus has turned into a tiny tourist spot attracting a large number of visitors and nature lovers daily, the convener said.
Telescopes and binoculars would be set up at different spots of the campus to facilitate the visitors to identify and learn about various species of birds during the fair, a press release said.
Display of pet birds is the prime attraction of the bird fair. – JU Correspondent
