Robbers injured a woman and looted valuables from the house of an Awami League leader at Sultanpur in the district town early Sunday.Sub-inspector Sakhawat Hossain of Sadar Police Station said a gang of armed robbers, numbering 10-12, stormed the house of former district AL joint general secretary Sheikh Sayeed Uddin at the village at about 3.00am by breaking open the door and held the house inmates hostage at gunpoint.They bagged 12 tolas of gold ornaments, Tk one lakh and other valuables from the house. Being resisted, the handlooms beat up Sayeed’s sister-in-law.Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Golam Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that they would take actions after receiving complaint. -UNB, Satkhira
