Dhaka, Nov 26 – A woman was injured in a blast in the middle of the 60-feet road in North Pirerbagh near Medi Home Hospital on Sunday night.It is unclear what exactly triggered the blast through a manhole cover over an underground drain.
Anwar Hossain, senior station officer of Mirpur fire station, said they suspect gas might have accumulated in the drain as holes in the manhole cover had been blocked. The blast occurred probably as the pressure of gas under the manhole cover had increased.
Witnesses said the woman was passing the area by a rickshaw when the explosion occurred around 9:15pm.
The victim, who could not be identified immediately, was initially taken to nearby Medi Home Hospital and then shifted to NITOR. – UNB
