A woman was killed allegedly by her son at Narendrapur village in Kachua upazila on Sunday.The deceased was identified as Shahida Begum,52, wife of Fazlur Rahman of the village.
Locals said an altercation over a trifling matter took place between Shahida and her son Uzzal, 22, in their house at the village on Sunday morning.
At one stage, Uzzal hit her mother with a spade, leaving her injured.
Critically injured Shahida was rushed to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital and later shifted to Khulna Medical College Hospital (KMCH) as her
condition deteriorated.
Shahida succumbed to her injuries at the KMCH hospital at about 10.00pm.
Sub-inspector Abdul Mannan Mallik of Kachua Police Station said Uzzal hit her mother with a sharp weapon over share of land and money.
On information, police arrested Uzzal from the house.
