Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khondoker Mosharraf Hossain said here on Friday evening that the advancement of women in various sectors of our national life has created an important impact on overall progress.Addressing a huge function organized by Faridpur Sadar Upazila Parishad at local Kabi Jasimuddin hall in connection with distribution of government cheques of Social Services Department to nine categories of destitute people, Mosharraf said the government of Prime Minister Hasina is extending all kinds of helps and has enhanced financial endowments.Mosharraf distributed cheques for Taka 3.50 crore of the 2013-14 fiscal to the freedom fighters, educational institutions, destitute fishermen, physically challenged people, widows, elderly people, dalits, harijans, gypsies, women voluntary organizations.He also gave cheques from his own discretionary fund. However more Taka 3.75 crore was earlier distributed among the government listed destitute people of Sadar Upazila. He also distributed eight wheel chairs among eight challenged people and six eco-friendly fishing net among fishermen.
Responding to a demand, Mosharraf announced at the meeting that there will be one office for freedom fighters in each union parishad complex in near future.Referring to the demand of BNP chief for holding another election Mosharraf said that they have missed the ‘election train’ and in that case they are to wait for the stipulated time as per constitution. Before January 5 election they did not listen to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina who requested BNP to join the election but they defied and took the course of violence.
The function attended by a huge number women from eleven unions of Sadar upazila was chaired by Sadar UNO Md Jahirul Islam and addressed among others by superintendent of police Md Jamil Hassan, Sadar upazila parishad chairman Khondoker Mohtesham Hossain Babor and some beneficiaries including a physically challenged youth.In the function ADC (Gen) Abdur Rashid, Zila parishad administrator Kazi Zainul Abedin and Awami League advisory council member SM Nurunnabi were present with other people of social strata. -BSS, Faridpur
