Workshop on Human Rights Journalism held at RU

A day long workshop on human rights journalism entitled ‘Training on Human Rights Journalism’ held at Rajshahi University on Friday.Bangladesh Human Rights Journalist Forum and Rajshahi University Journalist Association in assistance with Bangladesh NGO foundation jointly organised the workshop at environmental science Institute of Rajshahi University where a total of thirty journalists of campus participated.
RU vice chancellor Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin addressed as chief guest with president of Rajshahi Journalist Union Kazi Shahed and general secretary Mamun-ur-Rashid presented as special guests at the workshop programme, which was presided and conducted by RUJA president Mahbub Alam and joint-secretary Sazid Manik.
Addressing at a closing ceremony, RU vice chancellor Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin said there should not be no partition among the people as people from all walks of life participated in our liberation war; and it is expected.
“As more partition between people will be decreased, the protection of human rights will be so easy”, he added.
Professor Muhammad Mizanuddin said, “Most of the human rights are being violated because we are not united. Journalists could play a big role to settle this problem.”
“If there is no media, the country may face an awful situation to conduct it. Though there is risk in this profession but mass media is the fourth state of a country. Journalists must have to work from the place of responsibility’, VC also added.
Secretary General of Bangladesh Human Right Journalist Forum Khairuzzaman Kamal and associate professor of Bhashantek Govt College of Dhaka Abdullah Al Mohan gave a training on Human Rights chart of UN, Women Rights chart of UN, Child Right chart of UN, role of mass media to save women and children rights to the participated journalists in the workshop.
